New Look to the E-data Home Page

The E-data Homepage (the page where you would click, "Log In") has been given a new look.  This should have all the features you are used to.  It just might be in a slightly different location.  The most important thing for you to know is where to find the "Log In" button.  This can be found on the left hand side toward the top of the page.

Please call Rebecca Sellers (570) 726-0022 ext. 131 if you have any problems.

While everyone has done a great job selling the 4-H discount cards, we still have plenty left.  So, the price for these cards is being reduced by 50%.  The new price will be only $5!  If you would like any for yourself or think you can sell some more, contact the Clinton County Cooperative Extension Office at (570) 726-0022.

As of this morning, August 20, there are only 7 total entries for the 2010 State 4-H Competitive Trail Ride scheduled for Sept 17-18th. Additional entries are needed in order to hold the ride or the ride will be canceled.

Many volunteers and resources are required to conduct the ride and both are limited. A minimum of 25 riders is needed or the ride will be canceled.

Deadline for entries is Friday, August 27. No fax entries will be accepted. Registration information and details about the ride are attached.

Please Note: Horses entered in the ride should be properly conditioned and prepared for the ride. Please see 4-H Competitive Trail Riding Reference Book for information to prepare for the ride. The reference book is available from your county office of Penn State Extension.

PA State Horse Show Meeting Information

Are you ready for the start of the PA State 4-H Horse Show? Many Clinton County 4-H members have qualified at the District V Horse Show and the Regional Production Show and will be attending the state show. As soon as the official document is received a confirmation notice will be posted and sent to all qualifiers.

In the meantime, a meeting has been set for Sept 13 at 7 pm in the Learning Center. It is imperative that all qualifiers attend and the 4-H Horse Program welcomes all 4-H members to become involved in the planning of the State Horse Show. We realize that school activities will be in full swing, so if you know that you qualified please contact Helene McKernan at 570-726-0022 or by email hbm10@psu.edu and let her know if you cannot attend the meeting. At this meeting plans will be formed for stall decorations, etc.

When the official notice of qualifiers is received the Clinton County Extension Office will distribute information to members including instructions on payment and reservation of stall fees. Members will learn at the Sept 13 meeting, a method in which they will be able to have ½ of their stall fee paid for by the Horse Program Development Committee. All state qualifiers will need to pay all stall fees prior to the state horse show. The HPDC will reimburse ½ of the stall fees to qualifiers who meet the requirements.

If you have any questions call Helene or email her your concerns.

Upcoming Fall Events 2010

Now that the Clinton County Fair is over, it is time to start wrapping up this 4-H year and charging into the next.  Below are some important activities coming up this fall.

First I wanted to let you all know about the Teen Leader Council (TLC) Kick-Off coming up in September. This will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2010 and will be at the Learning Center at 7pm. It should be an enjoyable night and a great time to kick off a new year with the TLC.  TLC is for any 4-H member who is at least 13 years of age.

National 4-H Week will be October 3-9, 2010. While, there are no formal display contests in place for this week, I would encourage your clubs to promote 4-H in whatever way they see fit. Wednesday, October 6th will be the date where we are asking all clubs who collected cans for the can drive, sponsored by TLC, to deliver their cans. The collection time will be from 7pm to 8:30pm at the Extension Office where the teens will measure the cans and choose a winning club to receive a prize.
There will be a Leader/Officer Training on Saturday, October 16th. The morning will be filled with great information for both leaders and officers of clubs as they will be split into two different groups. I will also share information with Organizational Leaders that you will need to get your 4-H year off to a great start. Starting in October, all Leader Training hours will be monitored through E-data, so it is essential for everyone who plans to attend the training and other trainings to register through e-data. This is also very important for planning for supplies.

The 4-H Achievement Night will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010. Please watch the blog and newsletters for a location and award application information. The evening will begin with light snacks and the silent auction at 6pm and the awards ceremony beginning at 6:30pm. Instead of asking everyone to donate at random this year, I’d like to ask each club to donate one or two theme baskets to the auction. We will not be asking for individual donations. The proceeds will benefit the Clinton County 4-H Endowment. We will also be putting together a slide show, so please pass along any photos you may have from the 2009-2010 4-H year.
