Horse CVI Information

There has been confusion on the submitting of the Certificate of Veterinarian Inspection (CVI). The CVI is not required for 4-H events such as the June 27 4-H Sponsored Open Horse Show, riding meetings, horse camp, regional production shows, District V Horse Show, or the State 4-H Horse Show.

The CVI is required for any 4-H event that receives funding from the PA Dept of Ag. Therefore, Clinton County 4-H Horse Members must have a CVI to participate at the Aug 7 Horse & Pony 4-H Round Up and any other fair event held during the fair from the dates Aug 6-14.

The CVI may be dated from May 1, 2010 and any date thereafter. The CVI may not be dated before May 1, 2010. The CVI expires Dec 31, 2010.

If you plan on attending a horse event that is not held at the Clinton County Fairgrounds or sponsored by the Clinton County 4-H program that event may require a CVI. It is suggested that you check with the contact person on any event you wish to attend that is outside of the Clinton County 4-H Horse Program. Those events may have separate requirements concerning a CVI.

Members who have obtained their CVI for 2010 dated May 1, 2010 or later may submit the CVI with their June 1 Horse Enrollment or with their Round Up Class Sign Up due July 9. If the CVI has not been submitted to the Clinton County Extension Office before Aug 2, 2010 then the member MUST show the CVI at the book check in Aug 6 from 6 to 8 pm. This event is held in the office building in front of the horse barns at the Clinton County Fairgrounds; or members may submit the CVI on Aug 7 from 8 to 9 am at the Clinton County Announcer's Booth. Any member who has not submitted a CVI prior to the start of the Clinton County 4-H Horse & Pony Round Up will not be eligible to participate in round up.

If you have any questions please contact the Clinton County Horse Program Assistant at 570-726-0022. Thank you.
