Public Speaking Workshop Postponed

The public speaking workshop planned for tonight is being postponed due to the snow storm headed our way.  The workshop will be moved to April 8, 2010 at 6pm.  Please visit E-data to update your registration.  If you are not planning to attend on April 8th, please un-register by clicking on the "Activity History" bar on your home screen.

March 1st Deadlines

Reminder:  We have two deadlines coming up on Monday, March 1, 2010. 


4-H Club Window Displays:

If your club plans to put up a window display for PA 4-H Week, March 14th-20th, you need to notify Rebecca Sellers by March 1, 2010 to be entered into the contest.  The top prize is $20, 2nd place is $10 and 3rd is $5.  Don't miss out on this opportunity to promote 4-H!


Capital Days Scholarship Applications:

Any Clinton County 4-H member 15 years of age or older who would like to attend 4-H Capital Days is eligible for a $150 (1/2 price) scholarship to attend.  Applications are due to the Extension Office by Monday, March 1, 2010 in order to receive the scholarship.  There will be two available and those who do not receive the scholarship are still welcome to attend at half price.

Tomorrows Deadlines!!!

This is a reminder that tomorrow is the deadline for Camp Counselor Applications and Early Bird Teen Retreat Applications!  If you have questions about these applications, please contact Becky Sellers at (570) 726-0022.  There are still many spots open for the Teen Retreat and it will only cost you $35 to go!

2010 Capital Days

As Previously mentinoed, 4-H Capital Days will be held April 25-27, 2010.  The cost is $300 per person, but we are offering tw $150 scholarships for 2 members to attend, cutting their price in half.  Beyond the two selected, other members are welcome to attend at full price.  You can view the scholarship application that is due before March 1, 2010 at http://clinton.extension.psu.edu/4Hblogfiles/CapitalDaysScholarship.pdf.

Horse Kick Off Announcements

Informational that will be presented at the upcoming Mar 9, Spring Horse Kick Off for the 2010 Clinton County 4-H Horse Program may be downloaded from the Clinton County website at: http://clinton.extension.psu.edu. Events and activities for the Horse Program may be located on e-data.




The 4-H Horse Enrollment forms, Health Requirements, and Clinton County Roundup Class Sign Up sheet will be posted on the website when they become available.

PSU Show Judges and Show Management School

The school will be held at Penn State on February 20-21. Registration deadline for reduced fees has been extended to February 12. Late registrations received after February 12 must pay an additional $10.00 fee. Late registrations and walk-ins will be accepted as space permits.

Camp Counselor Reminder

This is just a reminder that all members who are interested in being a camp counselor should turn their forms in by next Friday, February 19, 2010.  Your forms should be in the extension office by that time.

County Wide Can Drive

The Clinton County Teen Leader Council would like to lead Clinton County 4-H in a Countywide Can Drive.  The drive will run from now until September, so you will have lots of time to collect.  There will be a contest to see what club can save the most cans.  The cans will then be recylcled and proceeds will go to a charity.  The winning club will receive a very nice prize!  What a great way to be environmentally friendly, have a little competition and give some money to a charity!

2010 Quality Assurance and Ethics Training

This is a reminder that each child in their first year of showing horses or livestock or are 14 years of age as of January 1, 2010 and showing horse or livestock need to take a Quality Assurance and Ethics Training.  Details regarding these trainings can be viewed at http://clinton.extension.psu.edu/4Hblogfiles/2010QAE.pdf.

Reminder about Teen Retreat

The Early Bird Registration for the Regional Teen Retreat is fast approaching.  This deadline is next Friday, February 19, 2010.  By turning your information in by this time, you will be saving money!  With the Community Foundation Grant, you will only pay $35.  Sign up today!

Selecting and Feeding Show Projects

Calico Creek will be offering a presentation addressing selecting and feeding of show animals.  The event will be February 27, 2010 at 1:00pm.  The presenter for the talk will be Scott Myers.  While it is not a 4-H event, 4-H members are encouraged to attend to learn more about their projects.

One month left to apply for Baker Scholarship!

The PA 4-H Baker Scholarship applications are due on March 1st.  The requirements are listed below, as well as the address to send your application.  Please do NOT send them to the Clinton Cooperative Extension Office.  You can find the link for the application at the bottom of this post.

Requirements:


1. Applicants must be present or former 4-H members in Pennsylvania.

2. Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students at The Pennsylvania State University, at either the University Park Campus or a Commonwealth Campus.

3. Freshmen will receive their scholarship after satisfactorily completing one semester.

4. Upperclassmen must have satisfactory scholastic standing to receive the award.

5. Preference will be given to students who plan to work with youth upon graduation.

6. A copy of his/her high school transcript(s) AND transcripts from all colleges or post-secondary schools attended.

7. One letter of recommendation from a high school or college academic advisor.
